Introduction
Agri-food production
and consumption covers activities ranging from agriculture to food consumption. As shown
in the diagram below, the depletion and contamination of natural resources occurs
throughout the agri-food chain. Pollution and food contamination related to the use of
production technologies and processes, as well as from the use of products aimed at
increasing agricultural yields and facilitating food conservation, also have significant
environmental consequences. Bio-safety and food safety are also important issues related
to agri-food production and consumption.
